Name: Clive Richardson

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

Affiliations: East Northants Sabs

Clive Richardson, the elder statesman of the sab fraternity, has been bothering hunts across the midlands for years.

He's considered something of a mentor to Northants Hunt Sabs leader Luke Tucker, however the pair reportedly had a falling out over Tucker's friendship with convicted arsonist Mel Broughton, leading to the creation of the East Northants Sabs.

Despite his advancing age, Richardson still likes to get stuck into sabbing. On Saturday 8 March 2025, he disrupted a trail hunt by the Cambridgeshire Hunt with Enfield Chace at the Hatfield House Estate. Police were called and ordered the sabs to disperse but Richardson returned an hour later and was arrested for aggravated trespass. An eyewitness said that police also seized unidentified weapons from Richardson's car.

Richardson was arrested on Saturday 8 March 2025.

Richardson, who runs the Brook Farm Animal Sanctuary at Raunds, Northampton, has been filmed deploying a classic sab tactic of calling hounds off the trail with a horn. This practice is considered dangerous as it could lead to hounds being drawn towards roads and into oncoming traffic.

In December 2021, South Coast Sab Watch published a photo of Richardson allegedly attacking a horse. Even in the unlikely event of him only handling the horse, rather than attacking it, the animal is clearly in distress and Richardson is alarming it and the rider.

Richardson is married to Rosie Richardson (née Simpson) who he met when she volunteered at Brook Farm when she was just 19 years old; Clive was 41 at the time. Rosie is now a manager at the animal sanctuary and the couple have two daughters together.

Before working at Brook Farm, Clive Richardson was a teacher. In 1997, he revealed in a column for the Daily Mirror that he had given up the day job two years earlier because "my school wanted me to sign a contract saying I wouldn't talk to the children about animal rights". A lucky escape for an entire generation of young learners.
