Matthew Slater is a member of the notorious and violent Stockport Monitors with a criminal conviction to his name.

In September 2022 Slater was convicted of public order offences for attacking a 62-year-old-man and 15-year-old girl in Oakham, Rutland during the Cottesmore Hunt alongside notorious sab and fellow Stockport Monitor Paul Allman. For this he was handed a 15-week suspended sentence and 3-month curfew.

The court heard how the men were “extremely aggressive” and used “threatening behaviour” towards the victims. The teenage girl was left “fearing for her life” after being pushed by the balaclava-clad gang of men.

Most recently, Slater testified at Chester Crown Court on behalf of his fellow Stockport Monitor Allman during the latter’s appeal of another criminal conviction. This time Allman was in the dock appealing 20 weeks imprisonment for the physical assault of two members of the Wynnstay Hunt, Hugh Hutchinson-Smith and James Thompson, in Cheshire in November 2021.

Slater was present at this assault. He submitted a video he took of the incident, which showed Thompson stumbling through the gate after being knocked to the floor multiple times. The huntsman’s injuries caused him to spit blood, at which point the saboteurs mocked “Don’t you enjoy your blood sports? Bloody lovely!”. In the initial trial Allman was branded by the judge a “danger to the public”.

Fortunately justice prevailed as Chester Crown Court upheld Allman’s conviction, despite Slater’s best efforts.
