Christopher Tuite

Affiliation: Wiltshire Hunt Sabs.

Location: Riverside Park, Great Somerford.

An active and dangerous member of the Wiltshire Hunt Saboteurs, Christopher Tuite never misses an opportunity to interfere with the Wiltshire and Beaufort hunts. BTM sources report regular sightings of him between December 2025 and March 2026, most notably a disturbing incident in January 2026 in which Tuite physically assaulted a hunt follower. His abrasive demeanour conceals a secret far more unexpected than a ‘hunt sab’ label. Indeed, he holds the title of Sir Christopher Hugh Tuite, 14th Baronet of Sonnagh, County Westmeath in Ireland. Quite a mouthful for a man who hides behind a mask on weekends and disrupts hunting whenever given the opportunity.

From the Maasai Wilderness to a Wiltshire Field

BTM are finding it hard to understand how someone so well educated, with a PhD degree in Ecology and Zoology and a career in international conservation and development, could retire as a grumpy old sab. He and his wife, Deborah, live tucked away in the Wiltshire countryside, the idyllic setting where one might expect a peaceful, community-focused life. A typical weekend for Tuite would consist of spying on innocent hunt followers, tracking where they park their horse boxes and alerting his community of their whereabouts. The breaking news on a poorly followed Facebook page is really what he gets up for in the morning.

Neighbourhood Nuisance

Tuite is your stereotypical local gossip. His platform of choice is the ever-mighty Great & Little Somerford Facebook Page, where he’s prone to a frequent post. We can only imagine neighbours rolling their eyes at the notification. Tuite has appointed himself the self-styled protector of Great Somerford, using the social media page as his personal platform to warn residents about legal hunt followers “blocking of roads”, and using “abusive or anti-social behaviour” and standing ready, at a moment's notice, to call the police on the hunt. The irony, of course, is that the person most deserving of a call to the police is Tuite himself.

Rules for Thee, Not for Sir Me

Below is a video of Tuite committing all the offences he frequently warns his people about. The incident occurred on 11 December 2025, where Tuite can be seen blocking a vehicle on a public road, slamming the door in the face of a hunt follower, and aiding his partner-in-crime, James Allen, with the irresponsible flight of his drone. We wonder what the members of Great & Little Somerford would make of their Baronet’s actions…

Untrained in Self-Control

The hypocrisy doesn’t stop there. On 17 January 2026, Tuite assaulted a hunt supporter, hitting a woman in the back of the head and pulling her off a quad bike. The victim went to A&E with a concussion and a closed head wound; the injuries were so bad that three doctors saw her. The police are currently investigating the case.

What hides behind Tuite’s ‘retired neighbour’ manner is something terrifying and definitely to be careful of.

What would the Council say?

Tuite is a walking contradiction: the self-appointed sheriff who turned out to be the outlaw, a hooligan baronet and a grandpa who fancies hanging out with a young drone pilot troublemaker. If that weren’t enough, he’s also a wannabe councillor.

Tuite ran for Wiltshire Council in May 2017 for the Liberal Democrats party but lost miserably against the Conservatives. Tuite went home with his tail between his legs and never ran again. Evidently, a career in public service was never going to be his strong suit. Though perhaps that pastime would have kept him too busy to spend his weekends sabbing legal Wiltshire hunts and assaulting their followers.

The Odd Pair of North Wiltshire

Tuite has frequently been spotted out with James Allen, a failed entrepreneur and rather disruptive drone flyer. BTM have previously reported on Allen, so it was time we turned to his abnormal partner-in-crime. Our records show they’ve been caught on multiple occasions, disturbing multiple legal hunts, verbally and physically assaulting hunt followers and most recently, charging threateningly close into a horse. They scream and shout about animal welfare in hunting, but happily spook horses with their car, putting the rider and the animal at great risk.

A passenger princess at heart

Your stereotypical gossip, maybe; but stereotypical hunt sab, most definitely. Tuite represents the perfect picture of the saboteur: hiding behind a balaclava, believing himself to be a guardian of the countryside, while doing quite the opposite. A self-styled countryside crusader who spends most of his time in the passenger seat being ferried around by his fellow sab, Allen. Perhaps the balaclava isn’t just hiding his face - it’s hiding the shame of being the movement’s passenger princess and chief gossip.

It's hard to grasp that a man with a huge family heritage, a career in animal welfare and an interest in local politics could be against a traditional practice full of heritage, but above all, could demonstrate such violent and terrifying behaviour. BTM research reveals that the Tuites descended from Norman-Irish gentry who held vast estates across Westmeath and Longford, and were noted, even by their contemporaries, for keeping the finest horses. Could you, Tuite, be from a hunting background yourself?
