Paul John Meade presents himself as a devoted animal rights activist in Cheshire, reportedly protesting Boxing Day meets and causing trouble. He fills his Facebook feed with fox worship and Protect the Wild propaganda. But behind the righteous facade, investigators claim he has been grooming underage girls online.
On 26 January 2026, the mask came off after SAFE UK, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting children from online predators, knocked on Meade's door in Tarporley. Their evidence was damning: Meade had been caught in explicit sexual conversations with multiple girls under 16. And to make matters even worse, his house sits next to a high school.
He admitted to messaging at least three underage girls in a sexual manner. His own daughter is 11 years old - just three years younger than the children he was calling "sexy" and asking for indecent images. When confronted about instructing one child to delete their messages before bed, Meade's response? "For obvious reasons."
Police arrived shortly after SAFE UK's confrontation. After reviewing the evidence, they arrested Meade for sexual communication with a child.
Birds of a Feather
Meade isn't an anomaly – his proclivities form part of a disturbing pattern among anti-hunting activists and their political allies.
Dan Norris, the former Labour (now independent) MP for North East Somerset and ex-Chair of the League Against Cruel Sports, has been arrested twice for sex crimes. He faces investigation for the alleged rape of a woman , on suspicion of raping a second woman, sexually assaulting a third woman, voyeurism, and upskirting women. The first arrest in April 2024 included child sex offences. Most allegations date to the 2000s, with one rape accusation from the 2020s. Norris is also being investigated for misconduct in public office and remains on conditional bail.
Ivor Caplin, former Labour minister and LACS supporter, was arrested in January 2025 for engaging in online sexual communications with a child. The ex-MP for Hove was caught at Brighton train station by Stop Stings, who had been posing as an underage child in months of online conversations with Caplin.
Caplin was an original sponsor of the 2004 Hunting Act. As a minister in 2005, he attempted to ban trail hunting on Ministry of Defence land, forcing hunts to join the Masters of Bloodhounds and Draghounds Association and apply for individual licenses, a cynical move widely seen as limiting legal hunting options.
Colin Smyth, Scottish Labour MSP, was accused of sex crimes against minors in August 2025. The 52-year-old, who has represented South Scotland since 2016, has been arrested and charged over possession of indecent images of children.
Back in December 2022, Smyth was busy slamming against foxhunting legislation, eager to show off his hardline stance on the sport. He branded the SNP's decision to vote down tougher restrictions on hunt licences a "betrayal" and sneered at the Greens as "toothless" in government.
Not so high and mighty
These are the people lecturing rural communities about ethics. These are the activists demanding moral superiority for “protecting” foxes but preying on children. These are the political apparatchiks who crafted legislation to criminalise centuries-old countryside traditions while engaging in actual criminal behaviour. It’s time people stopped listening to them.
